The Improved Wood-Saving Cooking Stoves Project was implemented to promote sustainable energy use,

reduce deforestation, and improve household cooking efficiency in rural communities.

Project Objectives

• Promote the adoption of energy-efficient cooking technologies.
• Reduce dependence on firewood and charcoal.
• Conserve forest resources and protect the environment.
• Improve household health by reducing indoor air pollution.

Key Activities

• Construction and installation of improved cooking stoves.
• Community awareness campaigns on environmental conservation.
• Training households on the use and maintenance of energy-saving stoves.
• Monitoring and follow-up support to beneficiary households.

Key Achievements

• Constructed 460 high-efficiency cooking stoves across rural households.
• Significantly reduced local deforestation.
• Increased community awareness of environmental conservation.
• Improved fuel efficiency and reduced household cooking costs.

▪ Implemented across 2 District Councils (Nkasi & Sumbawanga)
▪ Covered 18 villages out of 136 adjacent to the Lyambalyamfipa landscape
▪ Reached 11,720 community members, including 3,516 women

▪ 18 inclusive VLUPs developed
▪ 20,000 CCROs issued (out of 30,000 targeted)
